Empowering Women in Shipping: WISTA International Network

In the world of shipping and maritime industries, diversity and inclusivity are crucial for innovation and progress. That's where the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) comes in. With a global network spanning 56 countries and over 4000 members, WISTA is a powerhouse in empowering women in leadership and management roles in the maritime sector.

Recently, WISTA achieved a significant milestone by being granted Observer Status by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). This recognition signifies WISTA's commitment to promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in the maritime industry on a global scale. One of the key events on WISTA's calendar is the upcoming 7th WISTA Africa Conference, set to be hosted in Cape Town in 2024. This conference serves as a platform for local and international delegates to network, learn, and collaborate on various issues within the maritime industry. With approximately 150 delegates expected to attend, the event promises to be a hub of knowledge exchange and professional development. What sets WISTAConference apart is its emphasis on fostering strategic partnerships and sponsorships that promote diversity, equality, and inclusion in the maritime sector across Africa. By creating opportunities for industry leaders to align with the regional maritime leadership event, WISTA is driving positive change and setting the stage for a more inclusive and collaborative industry landscape. As WISTA continues to champion the cause of women in shipping and trading, its impact on the maritime sector is undeniable. By providing a platform for women to excel in leadership roles, WISTA is paving the way for a more diverse and vibrant industry that thrives on inclusivity and innovation.
